Elevator light curtain working principle
1. Beam emission and reception: Infrared transmitters continuously emit infrared beams, and infrared receivers receive these beams. If there are no obstructions, the light beam will pass to the receiver smoothly and the elevator door will operate normally.
2. Detection of obstacles: If any beam of light is blocked, due to the inability to achieve photoelectric conversion, the light curtain is judged to be blocked, so an interrupt signal is output, indicating the elevator door to stop closing and remain open until there is no blockage in the light curtain.
Elevator light curtain function
1. Protect passenger safety: The light curtain forms an invisible protective barrier at the elevator door to prevent passengers from being hurt by the door when the elevator door is closed. When someone crosses this infrared barrier, the elevator doors automatically stop closing and reopen, thus protecting the safety of passengers.
2. Preventing Damage to Objects: When applied in freight elevators, light curtains can prevent objects from being damaged by the closing elevator doors, such as luggage, carts, bulky goods, electrical appliances.
3. Enhancing Elevator Safety: By reducing accidents caused by doors traping people or objects, light curtains help to decrease the number of elevator maintenance and repair instances, thereby increasing the overall safety and lifespan of the elevator.
Using elevator light curtains is one of the requirements of modern elevator safety standards. Elevator manufacturers must comply with these safety standards by installing light curtains on every elevator to ensure the safety of passengers.
