Elevator safety gear is one of the elevator important safety devices directly related to the overspeed governor. It is a braking device installed at the bottom of the elevator car or elevator counterweight. It includes two parts: a pulling mechanism and a braking mechanism.

Usually they are divided into instantaneous safety gear and progressive safety gear.

Instantaneous safety gear including:

Eccentric block type instantaneous safety clamp

Wedge type instantaneous safety pliers

Roller type instantaneous safety pliers

They only can be used on low-speed elevators (V<=0.63m/s) .Commonly used model No. Like: OX-088 ,OX-388

For the progressive safety gear,there is no speed limit on the elevator application. Commonly used model No. Like:  SGB01, SGB02, SGB03, SGB04, SGB05, SGB06, SGB08, SGR-UD-11B

The progressive safety gear mainly is including following parts:

1. Gripping wedge
2. Counter wedge
3. Adjustment screw
4. lifting lever
5. Safety gear spring
6. Braking line
7. Set screw (alignment of safety gear housing)
8. Adjustment screw
9. Fixing for lifting lever
10. Safety gear spring
11. Resetting spring
