What is an elevator door lock?
elevator door lock is a critical component of the elevator safety system, responsible for securing both the elevator car door and the landing door. It ensures that the doors remain closed while the elevator is in operation, preventing passengers or objects from accidentally falling out. This function is essential for the safety of elevator users.
The main components of the elevator door locks include the locking hook, locking pawl, applying force element, elevator door lock rollers and unlocking wheels, unlocking cam, electrical safety contacts, and triangle key lock. These parts work together to ensure the safe locking and smooth opening of the elevator doors.
Lock Hook and Lock Catch: These two components secure the door lock, preventing the door from opening. The locking hook and locking pawl must engage sufficiently (at least 7 mm) and withstand a force of at least 1000 N to ensure that the door does not accidentally open during normal operation.
Applying Force Element: This component automatically resets the lock after unlocking and acts as the door lock’s resetting mechanism. Even if this element fails, gravity does not cause the lock to open, ensuring the elevator door remains securely locked after closing.
Elevator Roller and Unlocking Cam: These parts participate in the unlocking process. When the elevator reaches the designated floor, the door motor drives the roller and unlocking cam through a series of mechanical transmissions, with the door vane ultimately facilitating the unlocking and smooth opening of the doors.
Elevator Electrical Safety Door Contacts: These contacts verify whether the locking hook and locking pawl engage to the specified depth (over 7 mm). If the electrical safety contact disengages, it stops the elevator, ensuring the elevator does not start unless the doors are fully locked.
Elevator Triangle Key Lock: This emergency unlocking tool is used in abnormal situations. Typically located on the landing door, it has a triangular shape. Non-professionals must avoid using this tool to maintain the safety of the elevator door lock.
Elevator door lock components collectively play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and reliability of elevator operation, ensuring that the doors remain securely locked when necessary and can be safely opened when required.
