Definition and Function of the Escalator Comb Plate
The escalator comb plate is located at both entry and exit ends of escalators or moving walkways. It facilitates smooth transition for passengers and is designed to mesh precisely with the steps, pallets, or belt to minimize the risk of foot entrapment. The supporting structure should be adjustable to ensure proper engagement and sufficient rigidity.
Definition and Structural Requirements of Escalator Comb Teeth
Escalator Comb teeth are installed at the entry/exit area and engage with the grooves on the steps or pallets, providing anti-slip functionality. Their shape and slope should prevent passengers from tripping when leaving the escalator or moving walkway, with a recommended design angle of no more than 40°. The ends of the teeth should be made of easily breakable plastic, aluminum, or rubber materials to ensure that any object caught can be released by fracture, enhancing safety.
Safety Function of the Escalator Comb Plate
The esclator comb plate is an important safety protection device. A microswitch is usually installed behind the comb plate; if a foreign object becomes trapped, it can trigger the escalator to stop automatically to prevent further accidents.
Installation Requirements
One end of the comb plate is supported by the front plate, while the other end serves as the mounting surface for the comb teeth. The horizontal tilt angle should be less than 10°. The structure must be adjustable to ensure the engagement depth of the comb teeth is ≥6 mm. The comb plate can be made of aluminum alloy profiles or thicker carbon steel plates to meet strength and durability requirements.
Escalator Comb Plate Lighting Requirements
Escalator Comb plate lighting is installed at the entry and exit of escalators or moving walkways, typically at the end of the skirt panel, providing illumination from beneath the passenger’s feet.
-
Minimum illumination at indoor entry/exit: 50 lx
-
Minimum illumination at outdoor entry/exit: 15 lx
The lighting level should comply with the required ambient illumination to ensure passenger safety.
