Elevator Door Sensor– Advanced Safety Protection for Elevators

Uncategorized

What is elevator door sensor?

The elevator door sensor also called as “elevator light curtain“,is an infrared-based safety protection system designed for passenger and freight elevators, ensuring passenger safety by preventing accidental entrapment. It consists of four key components: infrared emitters and receivers installed on both sides of the elevator door, a power supply box mounted on the elevator car top, and a specialized flexible cable.

Where is the elevator door sensor located?

A standard elevator light curtain is equipped with more than 30 pairs of infrared transmitting and receiving sensors, strategically placed along both sides of the elevator door. These sensors create a dense, interwoven “protection grid” across a height range of 20mm to 1806mm.

How do elevator door sensors work?

When the detection area is clear, all infrared beams successfully reach their corresponding receivers, and the system registers a safe condition. However, the moment an object or person obstructs any of these beams, the corresponding infrared receiver detects an interruption, triggering an automatic response to prevent the elevator doors from closing. The doors will only attempt to close again once the obstruction is removed, ensuring maximum safety and preventing entrapment accidents.

With its high-precision detection and rapid response, the elevator light curtain enhances safety and reliability, making it an essential component for modern elevator systems.
